UAW – The Scourge of a Nation

The UAW has been working toward their demise for years now. An overinflated worker compensation package and a less than quality product is not an equation that equals success or longevity. This overinflation has been built on the backs of automobile customers with a hefty amount of worker’s benefits packages built into the cost of each vehicle. But make no mistake, this is not so much about the union member worker as it is the survival of the union itself. Union members are always secondary. The union must perpetuate itself or face self destruction and they are now in the stages of self-imploding. American auto makers can no longer assume customer loyalty when it comes to purchasing a new vehicle. Somewhere back in the equation product quality has to reign. With the astronomical price of a new vehicle the American consumer wants to know that they are purchasing reliability and does not want to spend their time waiting for repairs on a new car at a dealership, hence, another reason they are turning to foreign car manufacturers. Consumers are finding that foreign vehicle manufacturing is surpassing the quality and reliability of domestic auto manufacturing.

With the Democratic left in their hip pocket unions traditionally pump millions of dollars into their campaigns and members have little to say in this regard despite what their political persuassion may be. Does government start bailing out everyone that made bad business decisions? What message does this send? If you make enough money and employ enough people there will always be a government monetary lifeline available to you? It would appear we are now entering into the “Age of Bailouts”.
