Senate Races Not Over

Three senate races remain unresolved, Republican Senator Ted Stevens and Anchorage Mayor Democrat Mark Begich in Alaska, Democrat Jim Martin of Atlanta and Republican U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss in Georgia, and Democrat Al Franken and Republican Senator Norm Coleman from Minnesota. Alaska Senator Stevens is on the losing end win or lose. In Georgia a December 2nd runoff is drawing big names and big money. Volunteers stream into Minnesota to observe the recount. The outcome of these races are being closely watched. Democratic wins would mean a 60 seat majority in the Senate taking away the Republicans ability to filibuster. This would take us back to the Jimmy Carter years, a period of time that does not need to be repeated in America.
