Franken’s Time On Opening Statement

Al Franken, newest member of the Senate, had his say during opening statements at the Senate confirmation hearing for Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. He praised Chairman Patrick Leahy and Republican Jeff Sessions and said he was “truly humbled” to be on the Judiciary Committee. Franken then told Judge Sonia Sotomayor that she was “the most experienced Supreme Court nominee in 100 years.” Wow! Profound.

Maybe Judge Sotomayor should have returned Franken’s favorable comment with something like, “Thank you Senator. You’re the most experienced comedian in the Senate that we’ve had in 100 years.”

Thank you Minnesota.
