It’s difficult to tap dance and double talk when you’re stepping all over your tongue. There’s few things more difficult to overcome than getting twisted up in your own lie.
It is not about a “Republican diversionary tactic” as stated by the House Speaker, it is about a member of Congress that was briefed by the CIA on interrogation procedures and now suddenly finds it politically inconvenient to have known about this and raising no objections at the time. Speaker Pelosi needs to be careful, to once again blame the Bush administration on the choice of enhanced interrogation is to also point the finger at herself. Casting doubt has only managed to bring this issue to center stage and everyone is watching.
Maybe the CIA used an enhanced deception technique to somehow have Nancy Pelosi believe she was not really hearing what was being said.
Those sly spies.
