North Korea Just Being North Korea

Once again North Korea steps on the toes of world opinion and does exactly as it pleases. And what pleases North Korea lately is launching rockets and conducting an underground nuclear test. These acts of aggression have been condemned by the international community. North Korea has now issued a warning indicating that it would attack South Korea if any of its ships are stopped, boarded and searched for missles and weapons.

“Those who provoke (North Korea) once will not be able to escape its unimaginable and merciless punishment”
~North Korea Offical News Agency

What is the world going to do? Nothing.

“North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs pose a grave threat to the peace and security of the world and I strongly condemn their reckless action.”
~The President from the White House Rose Garden

Condemnation without any intent of meaningful action is an empty, hollow, meaningless statement.

“What we heard today was swift, clear, unequivocal condemnation and opposition to what occurred.”
~Susan Rice, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations

As the UN Security Council makes plans to draft more useless resolutions.

“This is clearly a further unnecessary and provocative act by North Korea which will do nothing to advance the prospects for regional security and will only serve to isolate the regime further.”
~ statement from Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s spokesman

They are already isolated.

“Switzerland is convinced that the North Korea nuclear question can only be solved with negotiations and diplomacy. In this regard it supports the resumption of six-party talks.”
~Statement from the Swiss Ministry

Negotiations and diplomacy have never seemed to work in the past or North Korea would not be where it is today. What will be solved?

“The Chinese side vehemently demands North Korea abides by its denuclearization promises, stop any actions which may worsen the situation and return to the six-party talks process. The Chinese government calls on all sides to calmly and appropriately deal (with the situation).”
~ Statement from China

All parties seem to agree with this, except the offending party.

“By persisting with its nuclear program, the North Korean authorities could face tough sanctions, therefore placing the population on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe.”
~Russian Senator Mikhail Margelov, head of the Federation Council’s international affairs committee.

Since when has North Korean officials ever given the human factor any consideration?

“The government should take stern measures against North Korea, such as by tightening sanctions, as well as doubling its diplomatic efforts and winning the understanding and cooperation of the international community to solve issues of concern with North Korea.”
~Japanese lawmaker Kenji Kosaka

Bold statement, pointless dribble.

For a country that has nothing to offer the world community North Korea seems to be enjoying its moment in the spotlight. Without rockets and nuclear bombs no one would be paying any attention to this useless and reclusive country.

This is North Korea just being North Korea.
