Death of the Muscle Car: The Emasculation of America
The President announced today a new initiative for national emission limits and mileage requirements for cars and trucks. This announcement marks the long goodbye for America’s muscle cars with none other than the muscle man himself, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, attending the ceremony at the White House.
The muscle car has a storied past and is as American as apple pie. What high school didn’t have the local (unofficial) quarter-mile dragstrip for teenage boys testing their level of manhood with their macho machines? It was all about cool guys and hot babes with “souped up” muscle cars. This was the era before emissions control and computer monitored engines.
Muscle cars have been immortalized in movies and TV. Who can forget Steve McQueen racing up and down the streets of San Francisco in the movie “Bullitt”? Or how about Daisy Duke leaning against the General Lee in “The Dukes of Hazzard”. Hollywood will soon no longer be able to produce a muscle car movie taking place in present-day America without it being fiction.
What will be the latest “hot” ride in 2016 when cars and trucks are required to average 35.5 miles per gallon? Will the testosterone driven muscle car be replaced by the wimpy, dainty, effeminate Smart Car? It’s hard to be “cool” riding in the equivalent of a motorized golf cart.
The recent demise of Pontiac and today’s White House announcement are sad events for the American automobile. What we are left with is a lot of hypothetical hyperbole regarding good news for the environment and breaking our dependence on foreign oil. Only time will tell as we ride down the highway toward the emasculation of America.

Gee everybody seems to love this idiot so much that he can just do anything he wants.
He’s trying so hard to kill all of the fun that’s left in this country, and turn it in to a third world toilet.
That the people who can see what going on are so disheartened that they are just think that they can do a damn thing about it, so why worry.
But I do see what’s going on here, this idiot is slowly taking the things that matter to the people of this country.
He’s slowly draining the resources of the United States to make it so the people of this country have to give in to his every whim, or they’ll have nothing.
Yeah what a great guy, he’s making a direct attack on muscle cars, one of the things I was put on this planet to do.
These CAFE standards are ridiculous, and people need to see through whats going on here, and they need to stand up and be Americans again.
Not beggars on a street corner, or illegal immigrants that think they deserve this country to do everything for them.
It’s time to stand up an scream at the top of your lungs, I know I will be.
