Election Day Wake Up Call
There were big Republican wins in yesterday’s elections for governor in Virginia and New Jersey.
Those sitting Democrats that have been feeling comfortable and smug since January 2009 should now step out of their comfort zone to reflect on last night’s election results. Left-seated politicians that have spent the past several months hurling insults and innuendoes at constituents under the Obama umbrella can no longer accept the premise that they have been handed a mandate for radical change. The message should be: ignore the election outcome at your own peril.
One year from now Americans will have their say again. In November 2010 African-Americans will not be flocking to the polls to vote in a black President so there will be no free ride for Democratic candidates on the coattails of Obama. Further purging of Democrats will be required in order to rein in a liberal, unfettered spending and over-bearing, condescending Congress.
Both Democrats and Republicans should make no mistake, incumbents on both sides of the aisle are vulnerable from voters wrath. Maybe the time has come for a Congressional clean sweep in future elections.
Yesterday marked the end of the blame Bush era and should be declared officially over. Democrats are on their own and have no one to blame but themselves. Now that Americans have had a big, heaping “helping” of Democratic majority government the taste is apparently not so sweet.
